Ingredients

  • 24 beef smokies (mini beef sausages)
  • 12 slices turkey bacon (cut in half)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (optional, for a sweet glaze)
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • Toothpicks (for securing bacon)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
  • Cut turkey bacon slices in half. Turkey bacon is a great alternative that crisps up nicely and adds a delicious smoky flavor.
  • In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and black pepper. Roll each beef smokie in this seasoning mixture for an extra layer of flavor.
  • Wrap each seasoned smokie with a half-slice of turkey bacon. Secure the bacon with a toothpick to keep it in place during baking.
  • Place the bacon-wrapped smokies on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and caramelized. Make sure to turn them halfway through baking to ensure even crispiness.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. These are perfect on their own or served with your favorite dipping sauces like barbecue sauce, honey mustard, or a spicy sriracha mayo.

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment Paper
  • Small Bowl
  • Toothpicks

Notes

Use turkey bacon for a leaner option that crisps up beautifully without overpowering the smokies. Don’t skip the brown sugar glaze—it creates a lovely caramelized coating that balances the savory flavors. Secure the bacon with toothpicks to keep it tightly wrapped and prevent unraveling during baking. For extra crunch, broil for the last 2-3 minutes, but watch closely to avoid burning. Let the smokies cool for a few minutes before serving to allow flavors to settle and avoid burning your mouth.
